So my 15 gallon innovative marine is about cycled and I’m heading to my LFS In Pittsburgh to get fish this weekend. My plans are 2 nano clowns, one clown goby and 2 cardinals is this fine or over kill? The nano clowns are so small they shouldn’t bother the other fish I think. Any feedback would be helpful.

You don't want to add more then 2 fish at a time. Wait about 3 weeks then add another. 15g is 10g with rock so 5 small fish is max.
That was my plan start small and work my way up just wanted to make sure this list was fine don’t wanna over crowd the tank

Get a purple fire fish instead of the clowns. Very peaceful and also check tailspot blenny which are small active fish.

ok might swap the clowns for something else then I just don’t want a tank with two fish I do plan to get a 40 gallon
my recommendation:

court jester goby (helps with algae!)
2 cardinals (although i prefer firefish since the cardinals just hover in place..firefish have more movement)
goby + pistol shrimp pair

then you have room for 1 nano fish of your liking. tailspot blennie's stay a good size for a 15g. edit: royal grama has nice coloration too.

That will be near capacity and factoring you will add a clean up crew and eventually an anemone
Being that the tank has just cycled, stock in order of aggression with cardinals first (two pajamas or ONE bangaii- not 2 bangaii which will likely get into a boxing match.
Do not consider an anemone for at least 4-5 months and STOCK SLOWLY as you mentioned just getting cycled and when new fish are added, the bacteria population will increase with the new bio load, converting waste to nitrate.
Overloading tank with too many fish up front will exceed what the bacteria can handle and cause issues

Definitely wanted a Firefish in there but I wanted clowns really bad too lol decisions decisions
I love clowns but will never add them again. They are well known for brook also known as clown fish disease and wiped my tank out early on. If you get clowns make sure they are properly medicated QT for 2 to 4 weeks prior to reduce the chance of disease.

All clowns get big for that same size, and cardinals also get a lot bigger than you would think. Im creating a 15 nano as well and my stock list is sexy shrimp, a watchmen/pistol shrimp pair and possibly a small small goby or basslet (most likely wont do the clown goby or royal gramma because of space. I would keep clownfish pair in no smaller than a 32 gallon. Here is my adult pair to show you size wise. Female is about 3.5 inches and the male is probably 2-2.5 inches. For reference the yellow tang is probably an inch bigger than my female. I would say no to cardinals and clowns in that kind of tank.

Perfect so right now I’m going with the fire fish, 2 clowns and maybe a royal gramma and 1 cardinal instead of the clowns I do want movement and want everything to get along

i’d advise against firefish AND cardinals as both do the same thing (one just swims more than the other)

Cool and as you migrate into the bigger tank consider a utilitarian fish that eats pests like a small wrasse. I have 5 wrasses in my tank and no pest issues.
