Hello, does anyone know what the status is of the Ion Director? I see they're always out of stock on GHL USA's web site. Are there that many back orders that they just haven't caught up or is this one of those things that was not meant to be?

We're happy to say that we caught up with USA pre-orders a couple of weeks ago and are now working to bring in more IOND devices for normal stocking purposes. Once we have shipping confirmation from HQ, we'll make an announcement and open it up for sale again. :)

Thanks for the reply. Can you tell me the status of the Ion probes. I know there were some issues at the rollout. What is the expected lifespan of the probes if you test once per day?

Sure. Gen 2 sensors are stronger.
3 month minimum life span; dependent on water quality. The better the quality, the longer life one will see. We have customers enjoying a year of use before needing replacement.

Furthermore, we recently released a new update which lets both IOND and KHD users choose the days of the week to test. This means one can test every other day, if wanted.

Vinny, thanks again for the reply. I look forward to adding the ION Director to my GHL system.

Hi Vinny,

I have an IOD on order (from January and in the UK so not your problem lol) and am interested in what you said about the probe life span being prolonged by water quality. How would you define high water quality? Is it purely water with no particles (e.g. suspended matter) ?

Thanks

Water quality meaning reasonable nitrate levels, less than 25ppm. The sensor measures ions in the water column. If the water contains high nutrients (NO3 and PO4), then you have significantly more ions in the water column which puts more wear on the sensor.

Dear GHL

please talk about this, i do not understand......

i want to measure....., .50 minutes ago probe performance 95% , now this, nothing change only take offset 0 in the App, and no air bubble....etc new everything., this is 2. probe... first do after 10 measurement potassium problem.... only measure 10 times...

and amother problem: referencia fluid ion director measure well, and reef tank water mesure Ca 40mg /l , Mg 200 mg/l lower than another method.... another method measure referencia fluid it is good....

i am sad.....

I see you talk about performance of the sensor. Have y'all tested with a salifert test kit to see how off they are? Once the probe is on the lower end of performance scale.

I use the Nyos kit for nitrates. I’ll test again but for it to only last such a short time and I was testing the recommended 1 per day. Get me wrong , I love GHL system but this one stings.

yes I understand that, but maybe it still can be used as a reference if it’s not that far off from manual test kits.

Is there a way to maintain the probes and extend life? Some systems will run higher nitrates and/or phosphates by design or inadvertently.

0% ion probe performance ?
From what I’m getting is that each of the measurable parameters have like an individual percentage monitor that completes the total percentage of the probe. With the help of support, they told me to deactivate certain testing parameters and now the sensor is back to 80 percent. Granted now I can no longer test for calcium and magnesium. Not sure if that makes sense on how I am explaining it.

That’s one way around the sensor performance. But I guess if it helps performance I could deactivate some test parameters.
