How do I know if my light is strong enough? Is there a simple guide i can learn from?

My tank is a 37 gallon with 2 clowns, 1 tang, and GSP (attached is a pic).

Is the light i currently have strong enough?

What is the brand of light? It's probably not a reef light for coral.

Tang has no business being in a tiny tank like that either and will die soon most likely.

The light name? If you search here with the name, or on line you might find a spectral output diagram that would help you/us guess if the light has enough Par as @Dread Pirate Dave suggested.

Otherwise, since GSP is ok in lower light and the fishes don't need light to live I think you will be ok.

If the GSP doesn't thrive then my guess were wrong.

But the dead tang will raise nutrients that can help the coral?

Look at your wattage. Most of these lights are 30-40 watt and you want at least 85 - 125. Most decent China lights are 165wt such as vivarspectra
