Hello, everyone !

I have trouble keeping certain LPS corals like torch corals. My parameters are stabled and have 3 XR15’s in my 4 ft mixed tank.

Now the only thing I can think of is flow.

I used to run only 40% on my two Nero 5’s and now in run them to at least 75%.

Sorry about the lighting, they were about to turn off.

From the video attached , is my flow too much or too little for my Torch/hammer coral??

A link to the video if the attach video isn’t working

Assure medium flow as you dont want it too low not too high causing the polyps to tear off. You want it at a rate like leaves in the wind with tentacles dancing as example. Assure calcium levels above 390

I have a similar size tank and I used to run my MP40s at 45% intensity and my LPS struggled including my torches. Now I run them at 28% during the day and 20% overnight and all my corals thrive including SPS and euphyllia. I learned that less is more then enough in our enclosed boxes of water unlike the ooen ocean.

My calcium is usually 430 and I still lose LPS. The skeleton is turning white on some like this for example

other causes are listed below and also, if you have leather coral, they may be releasing low level toxins called terpenes and carbon will help with that.
- Alkalinity spike
- Temperature spike
- Salinity spike
- Low dissolved oxygen
- Poor water quality related with phosphate levels up to 5 ppm
- Change in water flow
- Additions of sand
- Changes in brand of salt
- Bad test kits giving faulty results
- Levels of minor elements such as Iodine, Potassium, Strontium
- Light intensity

Thats it ! Going back to fresh water LOL but thank you for your help!

But for the most part main parameters been stabled . I’ve used Hanna Redsea and salifert for the test kits
