Is it safe to store gasoline containers near my saltwater mixing station?

Basically, I got gas to power a generator in case my aquarium runs out of power. But worried fumes may contaminate the water

My first concern is actually storing gasoline indoors. I always store mine outdoors, tightly sealed.

Those new can seal pretty well so fumes may not be an issue. I don't like to keep gasoline close to my house but I have a shed and a pole building to store it in.
