Hello,

I acquired a couple Clove Polyp frags several weeks ago that are now growing hair algae between the clove polyps. I have never dipped a clove polyp in HP...will that kill the Clove Polyps? I usually dip frags 10 minutes or so..if I do dip, is that too long? And yes..I forgot to dip these!..lesson learned. Also, I have no hair algae anywhere else except these 3 frags.

Any advice is appreciated.

If they are anything like the Blue Clove Polyps that are a plague to so many reefers, you will find that they are nearly impossible to kill. You could do a slow soak, but I would spritz the frag with standard 3-percent peroxide out of the water and scrub the algae with the toothpaste, rinse in fresh saltwater and call it good. Most corals will tolerate weak peroxide but it is instant death to most algae.
