Nope! It's not a problem if the algae sticks to the sides and bottom like that. That's the 3D growth you want!! If you look at those pics I posted of my last harvest, that's what happened to mine - sticks to the growth chamber walls. The huge advantage of the Rev 4 is that you can take that growth chamber to the sink to clean it vs having to dig it out when it's still sitting on top of the tank.

Right now, my growth chamber is packed full - to the point of where the algae growth is actually above the bottom point of the slot pipe/skirt....time to harvest

At long last, my shipment of L4 / L8 / L16 parts finally arrived this morning!! (the injection parts)

I don't have any pictures as I had to jet in, check the parts, and jet back out.

Calendar is clear for the 3-day weekend. The first batch of units will ship on Tuesday!

Also, in case anyone will be at MACNA in San Diego next weekend, you will be able to see an L2, L4 and likely an L8 on display at the Synergy Reef Systems Booth #735!

What is the light wattage used for the L4/L8/L16?

The maximum wattage used by the L2, which has 2 LED boards, is around 30 watts actual. I measured the line current with an ammeter once and thought I took pics, but I can't find them, so I'll have to do it again this weekend. However I did find a video of the Rev 3 boards where I was measuring voltage across 2 series boards and that was 37.2 V at 700mA, or about 26W, so that 30W number is pretty close, it might be a few more if I measure the power on the line side of the power supply, so 35W max, but that's with the LEDs turned all the way up.

Everything else is a multiple of that:

L4 = 4 LED boards = ~60W
L8 = 8 LED boards = ~120W
L16 = 16 LED boards = ~240W

The dimmer directly affects power consumption. I'll try to remember to shoot a video and post it over the weekend...it's a good question!

How are your units doing?

If the bigger ones are anything like the L2, then people are going to be in for a treat. Mine is working great.

I had a long 3-day "labor" weekend, to the truest extent...I did run into a few unexpected issues, nothing show-stopping, but it has thrown a bit of a wrench in my plan to ship the first batch of L4s & L8s this week. I'll be updating everyone individually tomorrow.

The last thing I will ever do is ship units that aren't ready for long term use and abuse.

Hey Floyd that's a productive scrubber. What size would you recommend for a 220 heavily stocked running with ecomud and a Nyos 220. This would be my 3rd means of nutrient control

It's not crazy, there are people that run FW scrubbers but from the feedback I have received, they have their own set of nuances. Mainly, the algae grows quickly but it is very fine, like human-hair fine, and it doesn't attach very well. The Mortar Screen may change this, I know I have at least one person running FW with a mortar screen but I haven't heard any feedback in a while.

I've heard that in order to really knock nitrates down in FW, you need to run full-out: 24/7 light @ 100% power. This was the feedback from one of my customers that uses them on his cichlid tanks.

Another thing that I've heard, and this is in general not just my units, is that there tends to be a green tint to the water over time. If you run a filter sock on the outlet of the scrubber, it turns green (and collects loose/detached algae).

As far as size goes, it is still dependent on feeding and stocking. For a 550 you are either at L4 or L8, I guess I would lean toward the larger if you were on the weak side filtration wise
