Set up the tank on March 14 2023 and started to cycle. Roughly took two weeks to cycle dr.Tim and added a pair of snowflake clownfish.
Tanks doing pretty week water parameters are looks fine after adding the fish. Will keep be testing ammonia and nitrites everyday for a week until I think the bacteria have caught up. But since they’re so tiny I don’t really see any changes in the water for 3 days.
I will be lightly feeding the clownfish every 2 days to keep the bio load low since I only have filter floss in the back. My goal for this tank is to be a mix reef tank with LPS and softies.
Next week I will have some LPS and softies coming in from Unique corals. They were having a yearly big sale so I was able to get a lot for fairly cheap. Not sure if I’m jumping the gun on adding them so quick. Since I haven’t seen any diatoms developing yet. But from what I researched as long as I can keep a stable water parameter without big swings in alkalinity it should be fine. I don’t really plan on dosing anything. Although using “all for reef” is easy. I’m currently using Red Sea pro salt so we will see if that will maintain the water parameters. If not I will research more and use “all for reef”.
Picked up these LPS and softies from Unique Coral from their sale average around $23 each, saved like at least 70%. On the other hand, I'm not sure if it is smart to add these many LPS at one time when I just finished cycling the tank. In the following week I have to really make sure I keep my eyes on alkalinity and other element. Since I'm not planning on dosing, I would have to do large water change to prevent any large elements change.
