Hi all,

I came home to see that my in-line water control valve for the line from my sump to the aquarium is spouting a steady stream of water.

The sump is now unplugged, so this line is empty. I went to Home Depot but of course there isn’t a control valve the correct size. Amazon shows delivery tomorrow.

my question- if I leave the sump disconnected from my display tank for over 24 hours is this okay? In the display tank, everything is running (wavemakers, etc). I added a bubbler line to the top without the air stone as my surface agitation isn’t great, relied on the sump for this. Anything else I’m forgetting?

should I be worried about stagnant sump water?

What is in your sump?

You will need to move the heater into the display tank as well, if you haven't done it.
I have an in sump refugium with plants, lots of copepods.
No heater so that part is okay

If you have life in the sump, it would be best to ensure heat and circulation there as well. Sump dieoffs can certainly crash a tank if reconnected.

Good luck!

Hopefully ~ 6 hours without movement didn’t kill things!! The tank has been running great finally I would hate for this to be the moment.
