Imagitarium Pacific Ocean Water and cycling

So I started a new biocube 32 about a week and a half ago. I was so lazy to mix salt water and I found this water (Imagitarium Pacific Ocean Water) at Petco. I tested my levels today ammonia was 0, nitrite was 0, and nitrate was 2. Ummm... so is my tank completely cycled. I’ve never used this water before.

It’s the only water I use, and I love it! Never had a problem with salinity. Also, a week is way too early for a tank tank to be cycled. What do you have in the tank and what did you use to cycle it?

You need to cycle the tank somehow, by having an ammonia source.

I used imagitarium to start my tank as well; this year. Curious if you're still using it, since you've been doing this longer. I truly don't want to mix water; i'm still gettin used to all the cleaning, testing, water changes, etc... Maybe in a year I would consider mixing on my own.

Cycling is establishing enough nitrifiers to handle a certain amount of ammonia. So just measuring 0 ammonia and 0 nitrite gives no clue as to whether a tank is cycled or not, unless you have previous measurements to come to the conclusion that ammonia (ans nitrite) were consumed.

This is a testless cycling thread, we don't want ammonia testing here for any job if possible, because we are teaching reefers/readers that moving live rocks system to system does not restart the cycle: many in our community don't understand that rule and feel that any tank being setup simply...

*someone else followed the rules above to get the rocks ready, a pet store has the rock set in water. nobody skipped those rules above they're solid.

we're playing up the rule that moving ready rocks from one tank of water to another does not kill water bac, they in fact enjoy the ride and nothing requires redoing. it has to be just that kind of rock though, the kind with visual growths on it from a pet store holding tank called live rock and we can see little starfish arms poking about and bugs crawling around the rocks, live.
