You might try adding a fan to your sump to increase evaporation. More evaporation more kalkwasser that can be added with your ATO. More kalkwasser means more ca/alk added. Make sure your top off water is at full saturation too. Should get a pH reading around 12. Most tanks can maintain with kalkwasser alone this way. If not it might keep the changes small enough during your 24 hours at work period to not be harmful

yoou have an ato? if so I would suggest getting a kalk stirrer. Myself i do not dose or have a cal reactor but I do own a 2 little fishies kalk stirrer that cost under 100 bucks. I have a 90gal tank full of acros and i am able to keep my cal at 450 and alk at 9 by just using this one piece of equipment. now this will not help to raise your current params so much as it will help keep them stable.

I didn't even think about NARC and yes I am a member... I work at Redstone so you will not be too far from me. maybe we could get together sometime soon so you can explain this chemistry thing to me. I'm a hazmat tech not a chemist. I feel once it's explained and shown to me I shouldn't have any more problems. And I would be more than happy to pay you for some cal.and mag.
have you tried the north alabama reef club forum here?

I have been dosing kalk-2 in my ato water. I've been adding more alk and cal to my fuge every other day and it seems to keep droping to where I started. alk=6-7, cal. 320-340. I think me mag is low. I need to get another test kit and get that up first "I think" and then worry about the others. I also checked my ph last night and it was high 8.6, so I pulled my skimmer air line from out side to get it to drop a little. I need a bigger tank. I'm tired of fighting with this small 46.

I feel uneasy with kalk reactors, because it'll cause buildup over time, and eventually mess up somehow and cause a snowstorm in your aquarium.
I just hand dose mine every day, when I feed my fish. Gives me more of a reason to stay there and look at the tank, before the wife starts to question my actions.
