Ideas on filter floss basket?

You can raise the them so they are closer to the weir that will raise the water level in the rear chamber making it more quite. I would keep one about 3 in below the weir put a gate valve on that one for tuning. Raise the other one until the top nipple is out of the water to break any siphoning. Reefer the the article attached further in the thread what I'm explaining would be a bean animal without and emergency in my opinion the best way to have a silent tank

Gotcha no noise comes from the overflow in the tank and I do have the water only falling about 2in or so it's all the bubbles coming out of the overflow pipes in the sump. So if I put 2 gate valves and add them on to both overflows and then put the pipes 1in in the water and slowly close I should eventually find a sweet spot where the bubbles stop and it just pushes the water?

Do not put valves on a durso style over flow.

If you want to quiet it down turn your dursos into herbie setups this would require you to change your return set up to be an emergency drain and your return would then be over the back of the tank.
