Did you buy this snail in the aquarium?I have 1 that looks exactly like yours , an astera snail from the Aquarium and I call him my afro snail.It looks like yours have pocillopora growing on it.I am not 100 % sure, just my guess.Got this snail several weeks ago... it was not totally covering the shell when I brought it home but now it is totally covering the snail shell. It is very active with movement. but very small stems with what appear to be tentacles at the end.

Make sure it's not hydroids. I can't tell by the picture, but they are common on shells.

No I got it with a CUC I got online. I will not order from them again only got half of what I ordered. When it came in it wasn't totally covered, but who knows.
I LOVE my chestnut cowries I havent had them eat anything other than the bryopsis they were bought to eat hahaha
I seem to have good luck with them and peppermint shrimp actually eating what theyre "supposed" to

I have another ID question found two of them in my tank yesterday. looks like a Zoa but it has tenticals like a BTA, but I am not sure it's about the size of a dime in the photo.

aiptasia anemone, proliferates very readily, meaning if you got one, you are going to get more if you don't eradicate them. Numerous ways to do it, just search on here, I'm sure there is plenty of options. Kalk Paste, Superglue, Aiptasia Eating Nudibranches, some peppermints shrimps.
Yes, they can be hard to get rid of and are the bane of reefers! The nudis are the best bet but can be expensive. I think Sustainable Aquatics breeds them so you might be able to pick some up at the Coral Reef. Kalk paste has also worked for me in the past when the numbers are small. They are one of those "pests" that are so dreaded that they command a niche market in the hobby for things that don't always work. Best of luck!

would it survive being boiled in ro water for ten minutes it's on a smaller rock. Or could I just pull the rock and set it outside for a week...
If they're limited to one rock and you can remove the rock that is your best bet! Setting it outside for a week would work but I wouldn't return it to the tank for at least a month unless it is a really small rock. I'm not sure all the die-off would be finished after a week and I'd hate to see you crash your tank introducing an ammonia source.

Yeah it's on two smaller rocks. I will leave them out for a month
