Hi guys,

Just got results from Fauna Marin ICP and according to them, iron is 13 µg/l (1019.6% of the ideal value).

I am surprise since:

My rodi tested 0ppm (fauna marin analysis + double check with my tds meter.) For Salt, I use Tropic Marin pro which is one of the best on market. Checked every single equipments of my tank and there's no stuff leaching iron in the tank.

Then, I bought a Colombo Iron Test which is super easy and simple to do and surprisingly my iron level is not even detectable (water is white).

This leads me to two possible conclusion:

a. Iron level is that high (above 7,5µg/l) that the test can't show results and the sample doesn't change colour. (I don't know how this works in this case).
b. Iron level is below the 0,5µg/l and Fauna Marin is terribly wrong.

Any thoughts? Corals, worms, fishes, inverts are all fine and thriving. I am very strict with WC and I do 10-20% weekly.

Thank you all!

Your icp results are in ppb and your test kit is ppm convert 13 ppm to 0.013 ppm which will be very low on your test kit

Got you, I didn't realise that! What should I do then? Do you consider this value dangerous for my tank?

It is high from all the recommended levels I have seen but do not know what it will cause. Mine has never been over 1 ppb.

Home test kits for iron are not very useful unless you target very high values.

Red Sea recommends very high values, above yours, without issue. It has a very wide range of acceptability.
