Hi everyone,

Any recommendations? I do a 15% weekly WC + dose AFR

My ICP from January (using different salt mix then) had Zinc "critically low" and Iodine normal.

Hmm I have a nano AIO so limited equipment, my magnets are fine but will check.

Wonder if it's a testing error? Might have to run a 2nd to confirm

Or its the AFR
Iodine low and zinc high is a common return in ICP.
Not sure I buy it!
Funny, mine same.
You can run a poly if you’re concerned.
Numbers look good to me!

I looked around and noticed my cabinet hinges are rusted... I have an AIO but kept my pipettes, etc. there with the door closed. Could this be the cause? Could it rise ~3-3.5 feet up into the tank?

Even the hooks at the top of the cabinet door show rust and I never use them & believe they've always been dry...

Second ICP test came back and almost exact same output. RODI was perfect

Should I take any corrective action since I do not dose Zinc? I stopped AFR, could that have caused it?

It's strange that the Zinc is still increasing.

I would be grabbing a torch and looking closely to see if anything has fallen into the AIO filter area, also double check fittings close to water that may be dripping back into the tank.

I had a marine safe metal hose clamp (above water but rusting) that caused me some elevated metals a while back.

Once you've identified the problem, water changes would remove it quite quickly.

I agree. Metals above the tank corroding are only going to be a source if chunks are falling off or if liquid drops on them fall off.

I think something in the water is most likely. Don’t trust any metal as being ok, although some are.

Thank you both, I will check all the magnets and the return pump throughly today.

Since it is an AIO I don't have clamps or anything.

I did add some frag racks which are acrylic (working to confirm with seller), but those have been in there for ~3 months with lots of WCs

thank you, its black in color (not sure if that makes a difference)

dumb question but if I had a bad magnetic wouldn't I have other high elements such as tin?

I don’t know what metals might be exposed on the surface of a magnet.

Might have found the problem! Checked my magnets and noticed a small hole in the epoxy in the heater holder. IM is sending me a new one based on picture provided; they're saying it should be replaced. Didn't see anything around the "hole," like yellow residual or anything

Let’s hope that’s it!

FWIW, zinc is colorless/white when it corrodes.

Additional update, finished checking the return pump and other magnets and didn't notice anything. Return pump looks perfect.

I broke up the IM header magnetic and did not see any rust, I'm leaning towards it will still "sealed" despite of the hole I was seeing.

The wave maker I was using to mix saltwater had the smallest amount of rust, very tiny

@Randy Holmes-Farley I spotted my Radion bolt though... could this cause it? This is the only thing I could find

Thank you as always!
