My Dendros were covered with hair algae, so I decided to give Nanodoc's removal method a try. I decided to remove the coral and place it in a small container of water for doing this to help keep it contained since that was possible with this frag. I don't want it spreading. I cut a pipe cleaner up into short sections. I put a small section into the hair algae and started rotating it. It eventually tightens up, but I gave it a little torque and the algae easily pulled away. When the short section was covered, I would throw it away and use a new one. I can see that this would work well when using it inside your display tank to help prevent any from breaking free and spreading througout the tank. After that method removed the majority of the hair algae, I took a brand new toothbrush and worked it over the skeletal section to removed any fine remaining remnants. I then gave it a dip in Revive and placed it back in the tank. It looks much healthier now, and I currently don't see any other hair algae in the tank (knock on wood). If you have trouble removing any of this or if it breaks free into your tank while trying to remove it, then you may want to give this a try.
Thanks, Paul. It is a nice technique. :thumb:
