I overdosed on Coral Snow..

Do you see any residue on top of corals or rocks?

If so, just keep blowing it off till it disappears (traps in your mechanical filtration).

I did dose calcium carbonate pretty heavy- well alot..!

Wouldn’t change a thing! That’s testing error! I don’t even measure it I just pour a bunch in lol.

How are you testing? If it’s a trident my money is on your calcium test bottle is almost empty and it always gives a wonky reading lol..

Thank You All for any and all help... Tested with Salifert kits. If in fact I am high in both should I just wait it out? Or options on what I should do..? IF it is NOT the snow what could it be AFR? Should I cut back on it? I am totally lost right now, I am.. Thank You

AFR does increase Calcium more than the 2 others. Combine this with insufficient flow and a lot more Calcium Carbonate which irritated your Caroline algae, and you get a decrease in both Ca and Alk uptake + a slight increase in Ca dosage.

Very possible.
Look at your Caroline algae, see if it changed its colors.

Edit: meant both Ca and Mag. Although Alk uptake would be affected as well.

Alk is holding very steady... Coraline no change at all... I do have a slight GHA out brake going on as well... Would the contribute at all to high numbers on Cal/Mag...? I dont think it would but...?

If your calcium is truly that high it would give you a false mag reading as instructed in the kit. It shouldn’t have anything to do with your gha… what are your phosphates at?

LOW.... 0.03 Po.... No is 7.5 Carbon Dosing a little vodka... But Mag/Cal are both high! I don't understand it.. Other than AFR dosing but hanging for a long time atr 9.2 to 9.4..

I did how ever use ALL the 1ml as in instructed on the kit... I used one full 1ml in the syringe to get the 1500 then refilled with 1ml FULL and added an other 90 to get to 1590. Right now at 1590 Mag / Cal just pegged right at 500.. Am I ok...??????

New or not if you ask Randy the chemist don’t even bother testing mag cause no test is truly accurate… for what it’s worth no, your fine and just let the tank do its thang! Here’s mine if it’s even correct I don’t know I quit paying attention to them lol..

Well maybe I ammmmm OK....? lol But 2 sticks are balding and I don't know why.. 6 months ago it happened to me on about 5 corals as well.. Can I dose Rogaine...? snicker snicker. But maybe they both where higher back then as well.. the only different thing I have done that I can think of is the Coral Snow... I thought it was that.. nope

Could be a pathogen or the biome just isn’t matured.. give it time! And do water changes.

Thank You Troylee Thank You.. Man you watch them grow and grow at times so slowly it seems. Then to watch them get a set back OR die off it really does get you kind of on some.. Just part of the game I guess.. Thanks, water changes... flush the ole tank... lol
