I got a starry blenny to help with algae and he at it all and is running out of food. Is there any flakes that he and cardinal fish would eat?

My starry blenny eats just about anything I give him from frozen foods to pellets. Ive used marine flakes before but noticed the fish dont seem to go for them like they do pellets. I feed new life spectrum pellets in a combo with other frozen foods like mysis, algae blends, plankton ect! My cardinal does as well.

Which one was it because there is many pellets is it the marine supplements?
This is the pellets I feed them. As for supplements I add selcon and vitachem to their frozen food. I feed frozen foods 3 or 4 days of the week with those and pellets the other days

So I got the pellets but he did not eat them I don’t know if he just didn’t see it or didn’t want it

He is very new I’ve had him for 2 days
Ah okay. Might still be adjusting. Does he look healthy otherwise? I also soak frozen food in garlic to get the smell in the water, that usually entices fish to eat

I think he is healthy he mainly sits in his nook all day. I’ll try the garlic method

While these fish need algae in their diet and will eat it, Its a myth that they are algae eaters and in fact need meats and calcium in their diet. You will notice they gnaw and pound on rocks throughout the day. This is done to scrape calcium and as for meats- Shrimp, LRS fish frenzy, small piece of scallop, plankton and other meaty diets. Their stomach should be ball shaped and not sunken which would be a sign of starvation

Ok and you just drop the flakes in the tank? Mine keep getting sucked up without getting to the fish
I take a pinch and release the flakes below the water surface so it sinks. You can also use a little shot glass or something to scoop some water and briefly soak the flakes first to keep your fingers out of the tank.

For the nori, I use this handy magnetic feeding clip, which my tang and angel also love: https://amzn.to/4bZ2LcZ

What type should I buy then and how often should I feed the meat

I feed my cardinal thawed mysis shrimp and flake food mixed daily. I mix in copepods as well. All my fish go CRAZY for copepods

He didn’t eat the flake at first. I had to mix it with the frozen food. Once he tried it he liked it and now I can just put flake in by itself as a snack.

I use PE Mysis Flake food. Soak it in water and stir for a few seconds and pour in. This way it doesn’t get sucked up by the filter while it floats

my frozen food I feed them is plankton, mysis and brine shrimp, algae blends and some reef fish cubes with other foods so they get a variety besides just pellets. Thats what I add garlic and vitamins to :)
