Hey guys, so I was changing some of the rocks in my tank and I picked up three medium sized rocks from the sand to move it to the sump. That’s when one of the rocks slipped from my fingers and fell directly on my blasto before rolling off. It fell from a high of 18 inches or so, I’ll send pictures of the rock and also the blasto (before and after). Please let me know if it will be ok for not and what I can do to help. The place where the rock fell is kind of like a bald spot and it gets covered by the polyps in the morning. This incident occurred yesterday at night and I left it to see what it looks like today once opened up. I’ll send pictures when it fully opens today.

Rock that fell on the blasto:

Here's a picture of mine after I hit it with a hammer to break it off the rock it was on:

Ah I see, the lights are turning on just now, I’ll send a picture of it once it opens up after a few hours. Should I dip or feed it? I gave both coral rx and reef primer. Or should I just let it be?

I didn't do either. I think the recommended dip would be something more like Lugols Iodine. The other two are more for pests and algae if I'm not mistaken.

I agree, it’ll be fine.
We injure corals regularly when fragging and only on very rare occasions they don’t survive it.

I also agree about the dip - you should use disinfectant like Iodine (or Cipro if it’s a serious ongoing bacterial infection), the other dips are indeed mostly against pests and can irritate the coral even further.

As far as I know the coral rx also helps with bacterial infections and the reef primer helps with slow and rapid tissue necrosis, bacterial infections and hair algae. Then I’ll just leave it and see what happens. If it gets worse I’ll just dip it in the reef primer as that’s the only dip that we have here, which is close to iodine.

I see thank you!

Then I’ll do what I said about the dip in the comment above? ^^^

I have little to no belief in the effectiveness of Coral RX as a disinfectant.
It is primarily used as a quite harsh pest control, and from my experience may in fact stress the coral even farther.

I do not have any experience or knowledge about Reef Primer, so cannot comment on this one.

3% hydrogen, peroxide, dip

This is the coral a few hours after the lights came on… sorry the glass is a little dirty this making the pic slightly blurry:

Reef primer is NOT “close to iodine”. it’s nothing alike.
Reef primer is potassium salts which again act as a dip to rid pests.

Iodine itself is an actual antiseptic, same reason we use it on humans.

Looks like nothing happened to me. Maybe a tiny bit unhappy but lights did just come on from last pic. Let it be.

When I find myself in times of trouble
Reef2reef comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be

And in my hour of darkness
Coral is standing right in front of me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be

Let it be, let it be
Let it be, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be

And when the broken-hearted coral
Living in the world agree
There will be an answer, let it be

For though tanks may be parted
There is still a chance that they will see
There will be an answer, let it be

Let it be, let it be
Let it be, let it be
Yeah, there will be an answer, let it be

Let it be, let it be
Let it be, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be

Let it be, let it be
Let it be, yeah, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be

And when the night is cloudy
There is still a light that shines on me
Shine until tomorrow, let it be

I wake up to the sound of pumps
My aquarium comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be

Let it be, let it be
Let it be, yeah, let it be
Oh, there will be an answer, let it be

Let it be, let it be
Let it be, yeah, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be

No no that’s not what I meant, what I’m trying to say is that reef primer is the coral dip that most people use here when corals are sick because it is not at strong as the other ones, kind of like iodine, which isn’t very strong. Can the iodine found in pharmacies be used to dip corals? If so which type?
