I mounted a branch of hydnophora and I ended up doing a horribly ugly job. Can I mount some paly or zoas at the bottom to cover my awful overuse of epoxy putty?
Or will they get the crap stung out of them and exacerbate my mistake?

Your SPS won’t sting them… Your Hydnopora will likely be wrecked by Paly’s and Zoa’s growing over it.
