Bought this Montipora (galaxea??) this Saturday, acclimated, dipped and placed it high in my tank. After a day it started getting some white so I moved it at the bottom to see if lighting was the issue but since then it’s only gotten whiter and now only has strings of its algae attached to it.

I bought some acropora and lettuce coral alongside it and both are doing really good.

Did misplacement cause this? Too much flow? Lack of nutrients? And is there any chance of it coming back or should I just remove it?

While I can't say what will help it, or what caused the white, I would say to leave it in. I've had sps go white on me but recover even after I thought they were dead. Just my 2 cents!

I do want to keep it if there’s hope aha, it was gorgeous when I bought it. How long did your sps take before they went back to normal?

What are your water parameters?
-Ammonia and nitrites 0
-Nitrates 2-5ppm (I dose NeoNitro daily for more nitrates)
-Phosphate 0-0.25
-dKH 8
-pH 8.0
-salinity 1.025

Unknown calc, mag and other minerals but I use coral pro as my salt base.

Sorry but with algae already taking over I am pretty sure it is toast.
It’s not bad algae like hair algae, diatom or dino, it’s the skin/algae(?) of the coral that’s still a bit attached

Do you have an idea what your PAR levels are within different areas of your tank?

No unfortunately, I’ve been thinking of getting a par meter since my lfs doesn’t have one to rent. I’ve actually put my lettuce coral where my montipora was and it’s loving that spot so I don’t know why my monti reacted that way.
