I was just curious how often people here end up scraping their front glass to clean off that light film algae? I feel like I've been using my mag scraper almost daily lately( its not covered but a few spots start up daily now). I stepped up water changes and cut the lighting schedule back to help.

usually once a week with the magnetic cleaner, any longer than that and it starts to get really thick and I'll have to bust out the razor blade.

Once a week.

Does anyone know of a good razor holder that extends and the head swivels?

I could do it daily but I should do it at least every other day. More than that and it's bad. I run 3 tanks all a bit differently as far as parameters and lighting but the glass gets dirty just as fast on all of them.

EDIT I just cleaned this tank 2 days ago :crying-face:

I do daily. I try to keep the magfloat off the silicone in the corners, that seems to be the hardest part, just being careful, or not being in a hurry and slamming it into the sand, which I have done once or twice.

That's what I thought but some say it's a sign of a healthy tank so I dunno. I'm not going to change anything to try and eliminate it since its the same in all of my tanks so I've just come to accept it. If coral were struggling I would look into it but evething is growing well.
This is another one I cleaned 2 days ago. Coral are growing better than ever

It is 100% the sign of a healthy tank. You likely have a very stable nutrient level. Mine gets like that in 2-3 days. I clean mine off once MAYBE twice a week.

I wipe mine down every other day with a flipper… I have never seen algae on my glass but I do get a white bio film from bacteria built up on the glass… around the sand it takes about 3 weeks to build up algae and I use a scraper.
