I guess it would depend on the status of the natural ocean environment or the condition of the tank. I would doubt our tanks could rival growth in the ocean if conditions were ideal.

The correct answer to this question is "Not fast enough". ;)

And if course, the more expensive a frag the slower it grows :)

Once something passes the frag stage exponential growth can occur. Getting past that early stage is the hard part. It’s worse than waiting for water to boil.

Why do you think that is?
I'm not sure. What I have noticed is this, at least in my tank. Frags that have come from MH lit tank: 1) high nutrients, poor color in parent tank - stall out and go dormant- except for SSC and ORA birdsnest. I have frags from December- January from a particular tank, and they win sleeping beauty awards for being dormant forever. 2) MH lit tank with good husbandry - tank a few weeks to color up in my tank and then grow well.

Frags from T5 lit tanks- find their rhythm and then just take off. LED to LED - easy transition into my tank. I've also noted the best growth mid way to bottom level in my tank. Just what I've noted this go around.

Aussie orange tip started as a 1.50”x1” frag over 18 months grew to 9.5x7x4.5” just insane.
