Hey all, I want to use kalkwasser to maintain my alkalinity and calcium levels in my tank. I have a BRS dripper and a 2.5l container. What approach do I go with dripping Kalk? Do I drip it 24/7 or only at night? I want to automate the system so I won't have to worry about It when I'm away from home. I'm also confused on how you regulate the dosage if it's dripping instead of being dosed by a pump. I have a Red Sea Reefer 350

The approach is to first figure out how much calcium and alkalinity are being used by the tank and then match consumption with replacement "drips."

I have a calcium reactor with a Kamoer dosing pump that allows me to run a stable stream of water through the reactor. I match uptake with reactor replacement, changing flow as uptake increases.

That's the basic idea. SOme folks figure out how many moles of CA & Alk they need to replace what is used but I just adjust the flow through the reactor to keep things steady. When it is working well I can let it roll for a month or longer without adjusting anything, but I have to test along the way to keep abreast of changes if/when they happen.
