I had one in my last tank before I moved. I got it from a local reefer. I was still new to the SPS game and let my PO4 get too high. It didn’t like it but hung in there. After I stabilized my tank, the thing was the fastest growing coral in my tank! It’s going to be one of the first acros I get after my new tank matures more. First picture is it when I dang near killed it. Second and third are after it started to take off! I wish I could have it back! It’s super hardy IMO. View attachment 3033039

Haha. I’m ashamed to say. It got to 0.64! I had success around 0.10 when I got it stable with GFO.

Success is going to be largely determined by the genotype you get and the tankmates in your system. If you peruse J. E. N. Veron's books a genus may have species that are cosmopolitan and sibling species that are found only in specific ecological niches. There is research showing the aurabiomes, bacteria floating in the water, are influenced by the types of organisms growing on the substrate. And we have research showing genotype specific immune responses with in a species (1) (2). Strawberry Shortcake, Acropora microclades, has an intersting distribution in that 95% of the colonies are found only in company of other Acropora species with only about 5% of the colonies found in association with corals from other genus. So your best bet for success is to dublicate lighting and water parameters and more importanlty the tank mates of the mother colony that gave rise to any frags you get.

ah i see lol. Yea somewhere around .10 is the magic number for me too but ive been having to dose neophos almost daily to keep it above .03...

Pretty much $250-$400 for a 1” frag in my neck of the woods lol.. that piece would catch $800 all day long..

It doesn’t have really long polyps.. it has them just tucked inside and extend out very little..
