BighohoReef - Thanks so much!
I picked up my frag from Mike himself (for a small fortune) at RAP Orlando 2017 as a little nub and he's been growing ever since. Now he's about 8"-9" around last I measured. I regularly frag and share him. Currently grown under Radion G4 pros.

Here are my Params -
Alk 8.5 - 8.7
Ca 450 - 480
Mag 1450 - 1500
No3 2 - 5
Po4 .03 - 0.6

I use Aquaforest Reef Salt and dose Red Sea Coral colors and Aquaforest MicroE on water change day only. Daily, I dose Red Sea Alk and Ca on a doser and hand dose Mag as needed. Trying to keep it simple!
Thank you! Notes taken this is super helpful! Now I'm curious what else you have in your tank.

At some point I'd love to snag a frag of it from you, the husbandry is different and the color up probably as well. Thank you for sharing!!!

The three biggest jumps towards SPS growth and color for me has been skimmer line to outside which gets me around 8.4 ph, Alkatronic for stability and Easyreef sps food on a doser. Night and day difference!
Adding these things to the list, I'm also wondering what the effect of these thing might have on my euphyllia. I might need that send tank soon rather than later :)

I love it!!!! Hoping I can get that type of growth! How often do you trim it back?

Not often actually. I’ve only trimmed it a couple times and mostly just left it alone to grow. The acros around it keep it in check. It’s probably due for a little trimming though.

This is interesting. I’ve seen this done before and would like to lean how this benefits the colony.

I don't think it benefits the colony per say... but from a business side it helps it spread branches faster and not just encrust. That's why i don't just stick corals on tiles to grow-out as a lot of times they just encrust without branching until they hit the edge, so I glue a chunk of rock to a tile then coral to the rock. You will also see people lay frags flat

Is there an award for the ugliest WD? Had it about 2 years, alk was too high at 12+. And it is the mother to about 50 frags. Then it went ugly/dormant but it is on the road to recovery

Mine kind of turned into something like yours. Lost all polyp extension, still has the color but kind of dormant. Thinking about fragging it to see if that can wake it up.

I put mine under different lighting, added aminos/food, and lowered my alk to 7-8 and it has started to grow again.

That makes a lot of sense. Thanks for the explanation.
