I have a Sicce Utility pump but I’m struggling to find what kind of hose for a water change would work well with it. I’ve looked into the Python but I can’t justify the length of the hose since I’m only living in an apartment. Anyone have recommendations?

You can get any cut to length hose from the hardware store. I like the clear soft tubing. Other threads can get more technical. No need to buy the expensive python setup.

I forget the hose diameter, but you need a screw on fitting for the pump. If I remember right, it’s a female garden hose to barb adapter. They are cheap. I think I had to order a 10 pack from Amazon for a few bucks.

Then just get pick a hose that has an inner diameter the same size as the barb.

It's regular garden hose threads so maybe find a short one or buy a length of vinyl hose and fittings and make your own. Python is nice but with a pump there's no need for the extra fittings used to start a syphon with a faucet which increase the cost

Yeah I looked into that. It’s definitely a feasible solution and I’m more than happy to do it. I just am absolutely awful at anything having to do with plumbing so I’d need to know exactly what adaptor to buy

Just need a fitting like shown below and a section of 5/8" inch hose of the length you want. No need to even have a fitting on the other end. Homedepot or Lowes sell the hose by the foot and probably have fittings as well

Bring the pump to the hardware store so you can find a hose and/or adapters that fit*. If your pump came with barb fittings, then you just need to get the hose that's close in size and use a zip tie to keep it on.
Remember, a small leak in the outlet of a submersed pump isn't going to hurt anything.

*If you go to an Ace/True Value type store, you'll have better luck with finding an employee that you can show the pump to, explain what you're doing, and they'll help you pick the parts you need.

TLDR, bring the pump to the store so you don't have to guess at what you need.
