Holy crap I think its sick, any advice

I just purchased a beautiful maroon. It looked fine at the store. Today after work I am doing my daily inspection of my tank and I notice that Maroonski has tachypnea (rapid breathing, its fast people). And not only this there are a couple of white spots or hair like thingies close to the gills. Problem number 2 is I have no quarentine tank and fish store is closed till 1 tomorrow. I tried to take a pic but its skittish right now. Ill take one for yall asap. Any pointers or any help is much appreciated.

worse case scenario, grab a bucket or a icechest to put it in for awhile, put like a coffee cup or something for it to hide in to help with stress. maybe a bubbler or a power head would prolong its time in there. last time i had a fish do that(was a yellow tang) doing fast breathing, was high temp, bad heater, not sure about that white hairs though. wish you best of luck.
