High nitrates and beneficial bacteria

I’ve been looking around for this and couldn’t quite get an answer sorry if it already exists.
So I started power cycling my nano 10tank yesterday:
Dr. Tim’s ammonia + Fritz turbo start
i didn’t feel like counting drops and I accidentally added way too much ammonia.
Last night a few hours after adding the reading were:
Ammonia: >8ppm
Nitrites: ≈0.5ppm
Nitrates: 0.0ppm

This morning the readings were:
Ammonia: ≈8ppm
Nitrites: 2.0ppm
Nitrates ≈40ppm

I don’t think the high ammonia will kill the bacteria as it has been going strong the past 12 hours only concern is at this rate will the increasingly high nitrates have the potential to kill the bacteria and stall the cycle?

Never heard of nitrates killing bactria and stalling a cycle. Some people have them well above 40 in established tanks.

Nah, you're fine. 8ppm ammonia is higher than is ideal, though, and should have dropped by now? Given that a bunch has apparently been turned into nitrates.

If your tank can turn 1-2ppm of ammonia into undetectable ammonia in 24 hours or less, it's done. The presence of a lot of nitrate suggests you're done. Keep an eye on those test results, maybe do a water change.

Thanks for the responses I’m just concerned because if there is already 40p nitrates in 12 hours and still so much ammonia left how high will it climb. But I guess their is no risk to the bacteria.
