My nitrates are ~32 and phosphates .12.

I'm going to try to pull my phosphates down to your .04-.08 range and see if any colors increase intensity. My plan is to use carbon dosing to do this - which should also reduce nitrates some.
i would not change a thing IMO. right now my po4 is closer to .18 and colors look amazing. your no3 is perfect.. when is the last time you changed your membrane and cleaned all the rodi machine?

@shane backer do you change your membranes even when they are still rejecting at the same rate as when they were new? I have a high rejection rate membrane which costs a bit more, but it is old. However, it is still rejecting at 99.5%. The water comes in at 408 TDS and exits the membrane at 2 TDS, then goes into 2-different types of DI cartridges, which I change as soon as the first cartridge reads 1. Thanks

Hmm, ok.

My membrane is about 18 months old - I'm due to change it out in the next few months. I change my filters (4) and DI resin (3) every few months. I test my output with a HM Digital Com-100 TDS meter. Anytime my water reads above 0.0 ppm, I change filters. I have chloramine in my local water, so try to be vigilant. I had never considered changing out the membrane every few months - until I read your earlier post...

I'm not trying to derail your thread. I'm looking forward to seeing you fill that tank with amazing tenius!

WOW 408 TDS that is some of the highest reading i have Heard. You need to be extra careful with your water. Mine is 280 on a bad day and i thought mine was super high!!!!....I’m glad it exits at 2 TDS. mine exits at 5 TDS so yours coming out is good at 2....and i do the same method you use where i change as soon as it reads 1 in between the 2 di Resins... the 2nd one never really gets used but it always changes out... I change my membrane every 6 weeks... doesn't matter what the rejection rate is. some people think I’m crazy but i have crashed my system a few times letting the membrane go to long.. i think something gets through in the water and still read tds 0 but that's just IMO..

Where I live the water is very hard. My membrane is the spectrapure spectraselect, which gets a crazy high rejection rate and I always figured the DI would take care of anything that got passed it. But at this point why chance it anymore. At $66 per membrane it’s still only the faction of the cost of high end acros I’ve been buying. I appreciate your advice and will definitely change out my old membrane.

ok good change it out asap. Also it is very important once you change it out.. you need to burn off like 35 gallons of water before you use it.. but i already know you monitor the rate coming out of the membrane so you probably already do this lol

I'm so temping to save a few of these frags for the new grow out but the tank is just not ready. I ordered a new skimmer and also ordered Ecotech MP40s for flow. Will update once they come in to show how they are installed and why..some of

Hi guys after 3 years I feel like this tank is decent enough and need to start a new tank... I set up a new 120 Gallon Display tank with some bonsai tree Rock work and plan to select some frags from the main display for this new tenuis grow out. its going to be a long journey replicating the main system parameters and growing the selected frags out. I am also excited to see how the radian g5s compare to the g4s. In the current tank they are grown using the g4s and the new tank will be the g5s.
