Hi! My name is Tom and I'm running a small coral farm in Berlin, Germany.
We're specialized in SPS and have a total volume of approx 10.000l.
I'm in the coral hobby since 2005 when I started with a jar with some live rock in, on the kitchen table.
It didn't take long and the fascination led to the first reef tank which grew bigger and bigger, every time we moved.
When we had 3.000l in the basement of our house when my wife told me to move out. Ehm, luckily not me, but the corals. At that time, I was already running a small business, selling coral frags. And because the business was running well, I decided to rent a 100m² room in an industry complex close to our home.
the business is still doing well, but yet it's still my side job. As main Job I work as an UX/UI designer.
Because we're breeding corals, we keep our mother colonies in large display tanks.
We think that the best corals to sell are frags from private tanks, because the are the most stable, colorized and acclimatized. So we replicated that and keep our corals under the same conditions like at home. That's expensive but ensures, that our customers get the best quality.
The main display tanks are:
200x140x70cm SPS dominated
240x80x80cm SPS dominated
170x100x90cm LPS dominated
And then there are some more frag tanks attached to these systems.
Maybe you've seen my insta already: https://www.instagram.com/tomskorallen/
