Welcome to R2R!!! My favorite store is Nemo in Duluth, they have the same livestock as pure reef but a lot cheaper I drive all the way from east Alabama there just to do my shopping.
If you ever want to get rid of the Tunze 9004 let me know I'm also in GA (north of the perimeter)
My tank (23 gallon nano) and reefing experience is new, mostly going for LPS long term
Welcome to the madness. I grew up in North Atlanta. Roswell/Alpharetta area, most of my family is still up there. Pure Reef is a really cool store, and the owner is a really nice guy and super knowledgeable.
@hobbyreefer - I meant to post this yesterday but, well, I forgot. Fortunately, I remembered it this morning.
Amongst some of the Atlanta area members here is @ATL REEF . He belongs to the Atlanta Reef Club and his most build thread can be found in the link below. Just thought you might like to know in case you're looking to connect with some like-minded locals.
Hi folks, I’ve been working on this project since May 2018. Currently there is form in Atlanta Reef Club with tank progress. I’m going to update this form with my progress. Fun little project ... Tank dimensions 130x59x31
Thank you so much everyone for the warm welcome! I will be sure to start a build thread as soon as I can decide what direction I'm heading. Yesterday, I requested a few additional quotes from Planet Aquarium for something a bit larger (150-180ish gallon display)
Here are the 3 sizes I'm now considering from Planet Aquarium:
option 1 (in stock at LFS)
60L x 24w x 21h
Crystaline high clarity glass
external overflow
Trigger system sump. I don't really know much about their sumps but the LFS folks were saying it was a bit nicer than the red sea sumps
option 2 (need to order from Planet Aquarium)
72L x 24w x 21h
same options as above but 1 foot longer
Option 3 (I believe it's a custom size)
60l x 30w x 24h
Internal center overflow (I'm thinking the wider width would need to be a bit closer to the back wall)
Crystaline high clarity glass
Thoughts on these? I really enjoy the wider (30+ inch depth) tanks, but I think option 2 might be the best choice for me. It fits nicely in the room, extra foot of length for larger fish, maybe easier to light than a 30 inch deep?
