hey guys i am about to start making a quarantine tank for copper treatment.
planning to do full 30 day period at 2.5 copper and use ati general cure through out the process.
is it okay to manual top off with rodi water throughout the process ?
also how long should I leave the Main DT with reef and inverts only before I add back the copper treated fish?
thank you in advance !

Yes but best is to add RODI water to container and add copper at the same treatment level as in the quarantine tank to prevent dropping the level with water only. This way you maintain the copper level

yeah i was little curious about this as well. wouldnt it raise copper level too much? i read copper level doesnt go down fast. if i top off with coppered water, copper level will go up faster than it goes down. no?

Being one is only replacing evaporation then wouldn't the concentration of copper in the remaining water rise then fall once diluted with RODI?

Coppersafe or copper power won't leave a tank due to evaporation, you would just need to top the tank off with RO/DI, or even tap water.

That said, copper products do lose potency over time due to minor binding with calcium in the water and possibly binding with organics. It is best to test the tank during treatment (every couple of days at first, then weekly) and adjust the dose proportionally.

As I indicated, you can with RODI water only. Depending on volume, you will need to add copper to maintain copper level.
As an example, during copper treatment, you are running lets say 2.25. When you do a water change, you will mix new water with copper at 2.25 to maintain level
In this case, to restore evaporated water, adding RODI is acceptable. If higher amount of water loss, mix at same level to restore

Why best mix with low calcium salt such as Instant Ocean vs Reef Crystals?

I’m not sure - I’ve never used copper with reef crystals, only Omega Sea or IO

Reef Crystal higher in calcium and just noting off what you mentioned on copper and calcium. Recall hearing Ryan from BRS mention using lower calcium but didn't understand it was because of it's binding with copper.
