I changed the thread title to include both tanks. It will primarily be my 90gal with pics and updates and stuff; but there’s a lot of good info on here for anyone looking to do a 40b build as well, figured I’d help people searching for 40b builds that way.

It also includes fun and adventure because we all like to laugh! And I for sure am still learning something everyday about reefing.

Some coral still looks a little mad but the tank transfer went great! It was so easy having the biocube 5 feet from the 40b. Most things didn’t even notice a difference! I couldn’t find my quinquevittatum wrasse for a few hours. Then I saw him in the 40b, somehow hitchhiked on a rock! Haha. My black leopard wrasse is the only thing still in the biocube and it’s hiding somewhere in the sand, I can’t find him :( hopefully he will come out tomorrow. I plan to put him in the 90 with my potters leopard wrasse. Hopefully they will get along.

I’m going to try and look for him again now that it’s not so cloudy.

maybe moved to DT in rock?
I’m starting to think so. I just went through the sand with my tongs and gloves on and nothing :(
Maybe he hitchhiked on a rock like the thalasoma did, he’s more reclusive than most my fish so it’s possible he could still be hiding in either tank. If he made it down the hall and into my 90.. now that would be impressive!

checked floor and sump area
Yea, our two cats have made some jumpers disappear in the past, or we assume at least. So it’s hard to really know for certain. I’m just not sure what to do

I did make a back up piece! Glad you agree that was a good idea haha. I was thinking the same thing. The union on the pump is already stuck so that’s another big reason why I did that haha. That’s funny your wife says similar stuff lol, I blame it on the apt living as well for me haha.

I need to hard plumb this WaterBox. But I have a question. The WaterBox return comes when a pvc reducer nipple and not much leftover pipe to cut it off and re stub. Plus of course it’s metric which adds a level. Any ideas?

I always wanted to stick with one line of controllers, but that varios is a sexy beast. It will just depend on the when and coin at the time. Plus, i have throttled back my spend a lot on my tank as it just doesnt seem to be worth it like i first thought.

We will see...

I sent back my Vortech M1 and I’m using the Varios 8 on mine. I use the smaller Varios on my water station.

Does the return go through the middle of the tank or over the back? Personally I’d just hard plumb it with 1.25 inch pipes if your running a varioS 8. I’m not sure how the waterboxes are configured though. Is the tank drilled for returns?

Yes already drilled. Comes up through the bottom. Built in glass overflow.

You could convert the whole thing to standard plumbing, do a bean animal in the drain and do the return up the back. That will make it super quiet. Or just do the standard way. Either works. You will get better utilization out of your bigger pump with wider pipes though.
