Light change I imagine is the issue. I added two more 360x’s and brought my t5’s closer together. On the Kessils I did reduce intensity from 92% to 50%.
The near zero nutrients are also new. I didn’t change my feeding or anything.

Battling some cyano on the sandbed in the 90. It’s been making me nuts. Any suggestions that don’t destroy all bacteria? I still run Zeovit so I don’t want to use chemiclean or anything like that.

Well, of the chemical treatments Chemiclean is the safest, I'm actually dosing it right now xD
But the best natural remedy I've found is Dolabella sea hares. They eat cyano like there's no tomorrow and mine have been pretty docile, not inking once. Another thing to keep in mind, is that sometimes cyano will hold all of your PO4 & NO3 inside itself, giving a false negative on tests and possibly leading to dosing N or P, extrapolating the problem.

Very true. Thanks for the tip about the sea hares. I’ll look into that. I have some ulva they can munch too once they run out of cyano.

If your worried about you bacteria in your Zeovit disconnect it and remove it from the tank prior to using chemiclean and put it back after you do your water change and run carbon to pull the chemiclean out. I personally use marine pure to house most of my bacteria since I skimp on the rocks and removed it from the tank the one time I dosed chemiclean

Another alternative would be to find the cause of your problem. Add more flow/ move your power heads around to some where new. You could just have a ton of fish poop built up some where feeding the cyno so dr times waste away or fritz monster 460 (both are bacteria’s that eat waste) could help clear your tank up with having to use chemiclean.

If you get a Dolabella sea hare I would recommend finding one for rent. They are usually picky eaters comsuming mostly hair algae and in Pretty sure if you get it to eat over you won’t be able to grow enough to sustain it

I removed my big birdsnest I have about a week ago, it’s in the 40b now. I’m trying to find someone who would want it if anyone is looking for a medium/large ORA neon green birdsnest. I’m not really looking for a bunch of money or anything, just someone who has space for it and won’t just frag it all up and sell it.

I have been battling cyano on my sandbed too. My nutrients stay solid @2.5-5 no3 and .03 po4. My flow is high enough that it started damaging my lps. After months of battling it, Devin from reefdudes suggested I try KZ cyanoclean. I ended up using it in conjunction with KZ coral snow, and so far, 2 weeks in, no cyano. I dont know the mechanism it uses to keep cyano at bay, but I can tell you that its working well for me without the harshness of red slime or chemiclean. The coral snow leaves the water looking super clear after it dissipates.
