I haven’t had any issues with it. I replaced the screen lid with a glass panel to keep humidity in.

I made it a peninsula and built the stand for it as well. I have a sump underneath where the water collects and is pumped back into the tank for a waterfall. There is a computer fan inside the plant covered wall. I made a chamber that sucks air in from the bottom and blows it out the top. I have the misting system and a fogging unit which keeps the humidity up. I have 2 species, which is frowned upon, but as long as you don’t provide them an area to breed, you won’t make hybrids, which is what people done like. You don’t want to dilute the bloodlines. Right ?! That’s why I’m building one too! They are equally WOW factor like a reef tank imo. So cool.

I found a 24L 18D 18H exo terra tank on LetGo, $100, perfect condition, couldn’t pass it up.I am officially building a paludarium/vivarium! So excited! Decided to do poison dart frogs as well. Fine spot bumblebee’s if I can find them in stock somewhere.

Is your ventilation system with the computer fans necessary for the plants and animals to thrive? That seems kind of complex. Will I need to do that with a tank that is only 18 inches high? I’m loving the peninsula style.

Mine is the largest exoterra tank available, I believe 36x18x36. The fan probably isn’t necessary. I had seen someone do it before and figured I’d try it. The vents get so overgrown with plants that very little air seems to get through. The wall is made out of one of those cans of GreatStuff expanding foam. Cover the glass with silicone to help the foam stick then spray it and add sticks and rocks. When it’s dry, cut out the final features with a razor blade. Then you cover all that with black silicone and press a peat moss mixture into it. Did the same thing to make vines using different sized ropes. The nice thing is once it’s up and running it basically takes care of itself.

dendroboards is probably the best site, as someone previously recommended. I also like using joshsfrogs.com for my supplies. I actually spent so much there that I was able to get the 4 Cobalts for free ;)

you should design it based on the frogs you want to keep. The frogs I have in there are more terrestrial but will climb the wall and log in the middle. It’s really a cage more suited for arboreal frogs, but it’s so large that they are all comfortable. There’s a total of 6 frogs in the ~100ish gallons

That was quick!

Here’s a few that I was looking at for inspiration when I made mine. These are in an exoterra that is the same size as yours I think. Similarly to coral, the bromeliads need a lot of light to color up. Otherwise they will just be green.

Moving the tank once I set it up. But here’s the tank & the Malaysian wood I hand picked. I tried to find pieces with cool holes in them that plants could take hold in.

I am so looking forward to this, I did dark bogwood planted back in the day and a couple of snakes, my daughter bought me this a few years ago, I have been avoiding going there for years! ;)

How do these do when the power goes out? Just curious what are the most important pieces of equipment and what are the worst/best case scenarios when power goes out... after the last outage at my house im possibly looking at another hobby now... lol
As long as you are home to manually mist the plants I don’t think it would be an issue. I’m going to get a MistKing so it will all be automatic, but I’ll grab a manual mister bottle too.

Nice! I hope this turns out well, I have high expectations, lol. I’m glad you’re interested in this build though, it’s always nice to have support. :)
