I think I might look into a foxface, what kind would you all recommend? One spot, Lo, bicolor, magnificent?
One spot seems to be the most common. So I’d try something different. Not sure of the name, but there’s a gray one that looks way more stunning.

I love the dorsal fins on those. I’m adding that to my stock list as we speak.

Same, it’s so unique. Do they only flare it up when they are mad?

I’m not sure. The oxidation color leads me to believe its iron. What color does oxidized mercury turn into?
I checked it and it would be red/orange, but who knows?

Glad to see you are getting a Fox Face ! they are in my list too.

Thanks for looking into that! It could be that then, it’s very orange.

Yea hopefully I can find a mag foxface! Healthy fish are difficult to find here.

Yep. When scared or sleeping. They’re really shy when you first get them but they’ll warm up to you

When you want a certain fish, you’ll never find it.

I believe the black spot is the smallest of the three. 75g min. The other two need bugger.
True... hmmm. Is that a temperament issue because isn’t the max size for all of them 9 inches?

Hmm not sure but the black spot foxface is only 8 the others 9-12. Swimming space is important and they are grazers like the tangs. If you have tangs and the foxface multiple grazing areas would be helpful.

Hello,

The lfs here has a magnificent foxface in their main 220 and he is close to 10-12 inches. They can get huge, and they have another smaller one in their 90 sps tank.

Never hard to find great fish, just hard to find places that really take care of them. I will say be careful around them when cleaning. I havnt had a foxface but did have a dwarf lion fish. I had to always make sure I knew exactly where he was at all times. Even when he was use to me and would come up to me for food. I wore these 14 nitrile needle proof gloves. But even after I had him for almost a year he never raised his fins at me. Unlike my clown who likes to nip at me.
