I recently sent my water in for an ATI test and it came back as mostly good except it says that i'm critically low in Zinc, Iodine and Barium. My question is should i dose just for those or look to start dosing a more general trace elements solution? I have Iodine so that's easy. Was going to order some Barium and Zing but wanted to check with the community first.

This is a 180g mixed reef tank that is about 4 years old. SPS, LPS and softies all look happy. I do a 10-22% water change every week using Tropic Marin Pro Salt.

One additional question, the test also says that my Potassium is high (620 mg/l) which is a bit over the recommended 427 mg/l - is this something to be concerned about? Not sure how/why it's reading high.

Full test results PDF also attached. I know the salinity is/was high - this was due to an issue with my hanna salinity checker and has easily been fixed

I do not advise dosing barium. It has no known use in any organism.

There are diy recipes in one of the sticky threads on this page.

A product such as Tropic Marin A and K is a fine one to experiment with to see if it is useful.9

You do a water change every week!
That should suffice for trace stuff.
I doubt an ICP test would provide pinpoint accuracy, maybe ballpark at best considering the transport time.

Yes, I do a 10-15% weekly on my 180g and 200g systems ( in only have the ATI test for one of them at this moment ) so am scratching my head as to why I’m so “critically “ deficient in some elements

You may not be low.
I’ve been low for 7 years now according to my bi yearly ICP test. I do like you 10% every week.
Have had no problems in that time.

I try not to focus on these as I have no evidence they are required or what value they have in reef Aquaria.

I used the Red Sea Colours Program for a year and in that time, could see no differences in growth or colour, just a deep hole in my pocket.

But that’s of course, just my opinion.
