good evening! i got a tailspot blenny a few weeks ago. i shouldve looked at him closer when i got it, but i am noticing that his little belly is sunken in. he looks kinda starved to me. he always comes dashing out and gobbles up food when i feed. this is the best pic i could get- hes super fast! i do not have much algae for him to munch on but do have a good pod population. i feed a dry mixture throughout the day with my plank feeder and frozen food twice a day. wondering what the @fishmedics think of him. id really hate to lose him! tia!

This fish is very thin and may be feeding off its liver. Additionally while it loves algae, it needs meats in its diet. Add brine shrimp, mysis shrimp , plankton and even LRS nano frenzy

Worth a read, it does happen with tailspots too, less so.

I had a bicolor blenny with a similar starved appearance, and he died shortly after. I ended up getting another a few weeks later (love these guys), and have been mostly feeding Ocean Nutrition’s Prime Reef frozen blend, which he loves. It has a good mix of Nori and other higher protein and fatty foods. He usually goes straight for the Nori first, then the mysis and other meaty foods in the mix. Using this food, my new blenny is growing and happy. Hopefully that helps.
