@Fish Fan Did ya ever get a solution?
Holy Cats! This was a while ago, but thanks for finding my post!

No, I bought, but did not install, a fleece roller. I am considering a whole different tank right now, but I am a firm hater of *socks*. I'm now looking into "cups" that fit where socks would fit. You can load the cups with floss or chemical media, or whatever you want. The fleece rollers seem like a great idea, but they seem - to me at least - to be just another thing we will have spend money on.

Please let us know what you decide and how it works for you!

In my case I have the same roller filter installed in th innovative marine RFS39 sump. I found out to keep the water flow entering the roller filter quiet, I have to set the height of the water in my sump high. Also, the silencer plates help eliminate any remaining splashing sound.
So far I am still on my 1st fleece roll. It's been running for a full month and still have more than half the roll to go. As for bio-load, I have 1 whitetail tang, 1 harlequin tusk, pair of clowns, flame hawk, firefish and a goby
I think it's possible make the ARF20 quieter by feeding the water in via the lower 1inch hole on the side of the unit instead of letting water cascade from the top opening.

Agreed, I keep my sump level high as you can see from my pic, dead silent I hear absolutely nothing coming from my tank and i’m 10’ away when sleeping. High water level helps a ton, i might go 1 more inch to maximize water volume and give my future chaeto more room to grow.
