Instead of weighing it down, you could put some self adhesive weather stripping for windows where the gap is. I've never done it personally, but I don't see why it wouldn't work. It comes in foam and "bristles" and will stick to your jump guard. Comes in many different thickness' and should be available at any hardware store.
