Looking for some help. I have a Hydros WaveEngine with 2 Octo Pulse 4 pumps, which I love. During a week’s vacation, had a power outage for a few hours. When I returned home, the Octo’s were not “on” as normal. They were getting some power because the propeller was moving some. It acted like it just couldn’t turn over and start. The Wave Engine control box had no lights, even though the power supply had a green light. I finally got it going by removing the power supply cord from the control box, letting light go out and then plugging in again. Any ideas why this happened??

Unfortunately I can not answer why this has happened however I can say mine has done something similar one time also. Hopefully if and when they release the battery backup cable it will prevent this. But unfortunately they keep saying its coming but it never comes. For me I have the Hydros going through my Apex so I can monitor if it is working and I can power cycle it if needed through the Apex.

Oops, I fat fingered that last one. I have been using the Hydros controller with 2 xl250 gyres and 2 RODC/Varios return pumps since Christmas, and very happy overall. Devices, especially new devices, are rarely perfect, but as a whole it has worked well. I use a 2k and controller on another tank as well. I have experienced this “stalled” pump twice, both times after the power didn’t completely shut down. More like a brief brownout. I theorized that without a complete cutoff, the controller doesn’t fully reboot, and thus won’t start again properly. I never had it happen after power is completely removed and restored.
Coralvue support has been mostly good, but not always ideal. I’m still waiting for an update to fully power my older RODC pump. They advertise this as compatible, but it doesn’t come to full power like the various equivalent.
but that is another story...

@Cari I have a Hydros currently running two Octo Pulse 4's and have had several power outages and mine usually reboots and starts up correctly however we've been having quite a few internet outages and that has caused a problem or two but I have mine plugged into a Kasa power strip so when I'm away and there's a problem I get an email from the Hydros but can't connect to it so I just shut it off and then back on with the Kasa and it reboots and works fine. If you don't have one I'd highly recommend getting yourself a Kasa power strip, they're on Amazon, and plug it into that. Gives you the ability to reboot it anytime from any where.

Sorry took me a while. I have never seen that issue and is really odd. Other than cloud disconnects I have had only one issue since beta with mine and I have two units now. I also still test their firmware updates before they release them to the public and it has been really stable. Cloud disconnects will happen but the unit still will function normally.

That is odd though that the pumps were not running normal. I mean if it was a power outage they should come back on fine when the power comes back. If there is a cloud disconnect, a internet outage, WiFi drops the unit should keep running normal.

It is basically a computer and stuff can happen to anything. Maybe the power flickered and caused some freak thing to happen because it never turned of completely. I also suggest putting some surge device on them or any electronics. Spikes, or dirty power can cause issues with any piece of electronics and actually cause them to fail sometimes.

I will post in our group and see if anyone else has seen this.

Also they have a trouble shooting site for some issues. Your issue I doubt is in there.

That could be what happened to him and most likely the issue. Putting it on a UPS may be a good solution and investment for you if it happens often and protect your equipment. Some people just live in areas with poor power.

Support can sometimes get overwhelmed when new products come out. Even if it is a older product and support is overwhelmed with a newer product.

Plus sometimes It can be hard with some people especially those that do not get technology, WiFi, internet etc... I mean I could probably call support and have no issues resolving something but others just do not get it. i mean some of that stuff is Greek to some. Some people make mistakes and blame the equipment. Heck I have done that, typed something in wrong and the thing does not work. Beat my head against the wall for hours and start blaming the equipment and it was one character typed wrong. I can not even imagine doing support.

Yea I can see allot of things being pushed back because of Covid. Parts can be hard to get. I been trying to even buy a saw and can not get them because they sold out due to people being home and doing home improvements themselves. 2X4 are out in allot of places. Sandy could not get yeast for pizza dough. So many parts come from China and if we keep bashing heads with China it could get really ruff to get parts.. I think Ford is having issues getting parts to make trucks now. I do not see many things being released when we cant get other stuff already on the market. I would take any release day with a grain of salt with the way the world is right now.
