I’ve had him for about 6 weeks, full extending and eating good. But since last week he has remained closed and refuses to open, any tips?

And here’s what he looked like before

I too have an elegance that is not doing so well. I tried a freshwater dip and the coral seems to be getting better, but too soon for me to really recommend it. Here is the article I read before trying it:

This elegance does not seem to be suffering from ECD. What are your parameters like including lights and flow?
I’m running lights 10 hrs a day and it’s in low flow aswell as lowish-medium lighting. Parameters are all normal and salinity is around 1.025

Would be good to understand all your parameters. Just easier for us to help if we see them written down. We trust you when you say normal but normal can mean a lot of different things to different people.

Also, do you have any crabs or livestock that could be pecking at him causing him to stay closed up? Tissue looks fairly healthy from what I can see.

I’m out for work currently I’ll be home in the morning and I’ll run a test and grab my parameters.

Yep i have hermits and two emerald crabs, I’ve only seen one hermit climbing on his skeleton but not picking at him

I’ll keep watching the thread and see if I can think of anything. Please do post your parameters when you can. It helps us go through the checklist more efficiently.

Mine sits at around 75-100 PAR with very gentle flow. A couple of things I would consider are turning off all flow for 1 hr to see if he decides to try to open at all, can give you an idea whether flow might be an issue. Also, turning your lights down a bit or moving him to a shaded part of the tank for a couple of hours could help. At this point we are playing detective.

These guys, like most LPS, prefer slightly higher nutrients so if you’re running an ULNS that might be part of the problem. Too many things to guess at right now!
