I have an algae appear that I need help w ID. It grows in a stringy reddish brown growth pattern. Also it may or may not have air bubbles within the algae . It may be clinging to it from my HOB SKIMMER. My tank is 2 years old. Thx

Can you post a pic of overall tank under same lighting ?
Looks like bacterial slime but that little area makes it hard to confirm.

Phos is elevated ( best- .04-.08) and mag High, not dangerous bot both have more adverse effect on coral opposed to fish. If you can, still need larger area pic of the substance in that pump area discussed earlier under white lighting

Ok I will do close up of algae on pump and a larger overall picture showing mostly green slime algae on glass that needs cleaned every 5 days and I have turf algae growing on the rocks inside and have emerald crabs for the bubble algae .

Also for reference: my phosphate was as low as now for past month but has jumped to .40 last week and have runnphos guard this past week w carbon bc I had a suction cup thermometer break inside tank and the contents of thermometer (unknowns) have dispersed into tank. It was at this time I started to notice some upset corals and I did a 50% WC and cleaned media in HOB filter

Thank you. These are Flagellates and may be what is called lyngbya. Turn pumps off for a minute and wipe clean OR you can blow loose with a turkey baster and net the particles up. My preference is heavy duty paper towel which it will cling to and then you can throw it away and start pumps back up
Assure your nitrates and even phos arent getting too low and reduce white light intensity a little.
Snails such as Berite, cerith and astrea will help with control of this stuff

I also run kalkwasser via my ATO and recently started “purple up “to get my coraline growing a week ago ( probably reason my ca and Mag are high )

Hiperago 100w ( $160 apiece and competitive with AI prime I wld guess. I had 2 of their Aquaknight black box lights 30w before and was able to keep my Bali green slimer acrapora alive and with these he has encrusted all down rock and new digits. I’m VERY happy w lights just wish I knew what percentage for each spectrum and nm.

Correction ; I upgrade to 2 of the Hiperago 100 watt lights . My tank is 30” wide and 15 “ deep and 21” tall . I know each light is sufficient for a 15” x 15 “ square of light .
