Help sorting fish from least to most aggressive?

Hi all,

Newbie here, trying to plan out my stocking list. I've read that you should add the most gentle fish first, and most aggressive last. Given that, what order should I add these fish in:

- Pair of ocellaris or percula clowns
- Scarlet or longnose hawkfish (depending on which I can find)
- Midas or bicolour blenny (again, depending on which is available)
- Watchman goby
- Naoko fairy wrasse

It'll be a two foot cube tank - I've read mixed things on whether this stocking list will be too much for the tank or not. Planning to keep soft corals and LPS with the fish.

I think this stock list will be good. With good filtration and husbandry. If it was me and my experience I would add the gobies together either one first. Then I would do the wrasse and hawkish and pair of clowns last.

you shouldn’t have much issue in any order with these fish. gobies first/clowns last

longnose hawk fish aren’t aggressive. At least mine isn’t.

Mine that I got rid of chased all the anthias and fire fish goby and ate coral banded shrimp
Each one will behave differently. I know of someone who had one and it killed their flame angel and scooter blenny

Eat shrimp, that’s what they do. My flame angel bullies mine.

What we say about fish is general. When it comes to hardiness and aggression, it also depends on where the fish were collected, tank-raised vs. wild caught, size, size of your tank is key, who came first to your tank, territories available, etc. Then there is just the randomness of sea creatures. For example, I have had difficulty in past with yellow tangs. They always got lateral line, no matter how much greenstuff I fed them, and were insanely aggressive. On the other hand my atlantic blue tang and grey angel are big, peaceful and in pristine health w/o much algae. If there is one constant I would tell all to stay away from groupers (unless species tank). Groupers are always bullies. Beautiful bad guys.

I would not do the Naoko’s Fairy Wrasse or Midas Blenny in a 2ft tank. Look into a Punk Streak or Possum Wrasse, and a smaller swimming blenny or a sedentary / perching one. Or maybe a smaller Fairy Wrasse like a Lubbock’s?

x1 Hawkfish of some kind

x1 Captive Bred ORA Fang Blenny of some kind / Tailspot / Bicolor Blenny

The Lubbock's are gorgeous, although I haven't seen any in stores here in Australia. I'm considering a 3x2x2 instead of a 2 ft cube, would that provide enough room for a Midas?

I think that could be okay. They swim but they aren’t overly active.
