Hi guys.

I’m moving into my first house soon and instead of trying to transfer my current tank within a day, I thought I’d just set up a brand new system and slowly bring my fish/corals over as my newer tank establishes.

My quiestion is what’s the best go to tank?
I’m looking around 1.5m wide (not to bothered about height and depth) but these two tanks seem to be the better of the bunch.
I’m not trying to cheap out but the D-D tank is almost £500 cheaper.

I plan on running:
2x Radion XR15 gen 6
1 MP40
1 XF350 gyre (opposite to MP40)

And ofcourse all the other equipment

I only have a 32G all in one at the moment so it’s abit of a big step up for me.
So would anyone be able to suggest as to which tank is better (or any other options) and if for lighting and flow, these would be sufficient?

Thanks

I didn't look deeply into the equipment each come with, that may sway me one way or the other too. But I might go with D-D. it's a little larger and cheaper.

As the owner of a 5-foot tank, I can confidently say you want more light than you have. I'd go the equivalent of 3-xr15s for lps/softie. 2 xr30s or more with sps. Personally, I'd chose a different brand, but that is of no real consequence to your question.

flow you are probably ok.

I was thinking maybe 3 may be needed. I’ve heard that the Radions are one of the best but D-D recommend 3x 32hydras, what lights would you suggest?

I'm a huge kessils fan. Got 3 360s over mine. I'd rather have 2 360s and an a9.
Reefi uno is highly recommend, noopsych has a strong following, reefbreeders also. I have reefbreeders over a 10g that I like. Lately I've been interested in ghl. Radions are great, but there are a good for less money. Depends on what you want or of a light.

I honestly think you made the righht decision moving over there but honestly it’s not too bad, there are worse places.

Just a shame reefing doesn’t seem to be as big over here as it is in the US, maybe one day

I’m not trying to cheap out how ever I’m also not trying to break the bank.
I’ve seen and heard only good things about kessils I believe the 360X tuna blue runs around 450 per unit here so only £50 more, if they a lot better I’d definitely invest the extra £50 per light.
What’s coverage like on them as they look like a very “direct” light

^^

There are many options for lights. IMO radions are over rated and overpriced. For those offended yes I own some gen 4 XR15s that are sitting on the shelf. I'm currently running noopsyche k7 III pros over one tank and reefbreeders photons over the two others and things are doing well.

Spreads about the same. I assume 24x24 coverage for either light. 30x24 for the a9 or xr30.

This was when my tank was new. Left kessils 360 (old model) right xr15g5.

Irl the xr was more washed out. Kessils shimmer was "almost too much" according to the caption I added to the post.

Of note, when I get around to it, I'll be adding t5s to the rig, because I want to see what happens.

Biggest problem is I’m in the UK, I can’t get a lot of these brands. It’s a joke ‍♂️

That’s quite a good comparison tbh, did you find any difference in par/growth.

The kessil does look brighter but there’s less rock so less shadow I suppose
