HELP!!!!! Is this normal for a elegance??????

I’ve had this unit for 3 years. The past 2 months I’ve noticed skeleton. Dipped it with a good response but still showing skeleton when flow is low.

Any changes in the past 6 months to a year that you can think of?

Icp?

Swings?

Rusty screws anywhere?

It’s bail out. Something is upsetting it .
Anything from parameter swings . Pests , something in the tank picking at it .
too high of flow ,

there used to be a disease common for elegance corals . And think it was similar to bjd .

one more thing .
Do you feed it ?
They don’t require food but they will
Benefit from feeding

It isn't normal for a coral to recede from its skeleton but it is normal for a elegance coral in captivity to recede from its skeleton. I've spent half my life trying to keep one of these and never had one survive and grow.

Only thing I can think of is eaither my wrasse was throwing it around or my phosphate spike 5 months ago. I corrected the phosphate spike over a week and nothing was effected. Recently my purple Kenya tree started splitting and one of the “branches” attached to the back of it but it seems happy still. It feeds, it extends I’m just concerned it’ll randomly die.

Only a slight phosphate swing 5 months ago but it didn’t show skeleton until 1.5-2 months ago. I’ve noticed some flatworms but I siphon them out and got a watermelon wrasse and an arrow crap to combat it. I stay away from chemicals especially for flatworms because of the toxins. It had some brown spots about 3 weeks ago and I dipped it again and the went away. What are the signs for the disease?

Corals suck in this regard....I bet it had to do with the P04 spike and correction.

I've had euphyllia heads bail due to the same thing.

Unless something else is off I would put that at the top of the culprit list.

Edit: flat worms could be the issue as well.

That's just their experience. It will not automatically die.

Many many people keep them now and also cut them in half to frag them.

The small little white ones. I’m not familiar with flatworms because I’ve never had them. It’s a first. Bristle worms are CRAZY in my hospital tank. The flatworms must have hitchhiked on a frag.

Look around they are out there.

The internet is huge and you will find it.

Bkchem is one high-end vendor that cut and sold many.

Not speaking on him personally just that he has done it and you can follow him or message him for your answers to why you aren't having luck.

I feel bad for your experience but trying to scare a member into thinking a specific coral will die is silly.

Yet in the 90s they were cheap and did pretty well for me. Had one the side of a basketball.

I’ve heard the Australian collected elegance are more hardy.
