I just noticed I have a all black slug with a half shell in my tank... What the heck is???? Id post a picture but the one I have makes him look like a black blob on the rock.

Sorry I had to edit your thread for language.

I am just about positive it is a Stomatella snail, they are great algae eaters and usually only come as hitchhikers. They will reproduce in your tank as well and it is cool to watch it happen.

I am just about positive it is a Stomatella snail, they are great algae eaters and usually only come as hitchhikers. They will reproduce in your tank as well and it is cool to watch it happen.

Sorry I freaked when I saw it because I have stomatella snails but they are light tan and when I saw black I freaked because I wanted to get it out while I could still see it if it was bad lol

LOL no worry's!

I do know there is a small type of abolonie that is black and looks exactly like a Stomatella. Did you get a good look at the shell?

I have these guys in my tank as well. Isn't it funny how different things just end up in your tank, and even better than everybody ends up with similar creatures.in their tank. Thats one of the things that amazes me about this hobby :)
