Help ID - Are these blue star polyps?

Hey fellow reefers. New to the reef2reef community. Need help IDing this hitchhiker on a zoa I recently purchased. I thought it might be blue star polyps? Making sure it doesn’t pose a threat to
my reef. Really started to take off the past couple of days

Blue clove polyps perhaps? If so, you might want to get some tweezers and remove them ASAP. Make sure to do this in a bucket of water though. You don't want these things floating around the tank. They'll show up EVERYWHERE. GL.

I agree that these are blue Clove polyps. Like said above, remove them in a bucket or container, not in your tank.

Thanks for the info and advice. I’ll try to remove as many as possible without damaging the zoa. They are actually growing on the undersides of the zoa heads. Is there a dip I could try as well?

I don't believe there is any dip that will kill the cloves and not the zoas.

If its just on the one frag, then toss the frag, don't risk it. Nothing kills them, and they will take over your tank. Been there, done that.

It does resemble sympodium. Could this coral exist on an island or is it just as invasive as clove polyps? I would hate to just toss the frag.

I have no experience with them.
