Good day,

I have a 5ft x 2ft tank, and I have been using a reefbreaders photon 48. It has been working fine for about 5 years until this week. I figure it reached the end of life. Now I'm looking to replace it with the same or a Razor XR5 300. Any opinions on either one. I know the photon is a pain to program. I do not want cables hanging from the ceiling, and I like the low profile ones. Looks clean in my opinion. I need it for hammer heads and acan. Any option or experience will be considered.
Thank you!

Why do you think it's at the end of life?
I too have the 48" photon v2 on a 5' x2' tank. I just set this up 2 months ago. The light was on my 4' x 18" tank.
I didn't think it was enough light coverage so I flanked it with (2) T5 on each side.
Coral are growing just fine, that's sps and lps. It's all tucked away in a canopy.

I bought my photon in April of 2016. I ran them with no reflectors at 100% for a few years. That's 8+ years if you do the math.
I am NOW thinking I may need some new lights.
I am looking at the noopsyche lights.

What about an AI Blade? I have 2 and love mine. Super low profile and the passive cooling is silent so no loud or noisy fans
Thank you for taking the time, i see they make two types, and I keep the low profile. I will do some research between the grow and glow

I'm running 3 photons, v2 pros I think. Was yours remote controlled. Mine all use the app and I have no issues with it.
I have no experience with the razor
Yes I have only one and I use the remote, when it comes to programin is time consuming and brutal. Thank you

You will want the grow for most of your tank the glow is more supplemental lighting. With your tank I would look at 2 grow 1 glow and go from there. Depending on how many you decide on I would keep it 2:1.

I did small troubleshooting and I get power to the plug. They were working fine and now not even a fan. I will try to open it tomorrow and see what kind of trouble I get into. I will look into yor recommendations. I hope the have a bar setup. I have a 2 inch brace around the tank. Thank you for your time.

yeah np! I enjoy mine - especially because my tank is in my bedroom so I like the passive cooling. I personally get plentyyyy of "glowing" from just my 2 grow (I don't have the glows) when I turn the blues on at night.

Not for nothing, but, did you happen to check to make sure your on your right program?

Yesterday I got home and my lights were off. Not sure how but they were switched to an old program "I thought" I deleted.
Could be but in the new app.

How did the trouble shooting go?
There is a board you can replace where power goes in for $100. It changes it from the remote to your phone for programming it and it's so much easier. It will make it the V2 pro.
But, if it's not working then that won't help either.

Sorry for the delay, but life gets in the way sometimes and you don't have time to smell the roses. I thank you guys with the input. I did the homework on your recommendation. I decided to get the noopsyche, using a rail keeping them about 3 inches away from the tank. I will have to do some modifications to the screen top but that's the easy part . I'm finding out their site is prehistoric and their app is not any better. I will get them working. Thank you again for all your imput.

Looks like we had a surge, the printed board has a dark spot.
